Big air finals at the FIS Junior Freeski World Championships held at Klaeppen Ski Resort (SWE) went down on Saturday, where our first World Rookie Champion Freeski, Ulrik Samnoey, impressed the judges with his style and technic!
“He jumped on top of the big air podium with a switch left double bio 1440 safety grab and a left double cork 1620 tail grab for 185.80 points. It was Samnoey’s second medal at the 2019 FIS Freeski World Championships in Klaeppen after he finished in the third place in slopestyle competition“.
Freeskiers from all around the world arrived in Seiser Alm to make history and battling for the prestigious, and first, World Rookie Freeski Champion title. Under great conditions, a perfect shaped park by the F-Tech crew, blue sky and a picture-perfect winter scenery, the future stars of freeskiing showed an incredible riding level.
“In Seiser Alm we wrote the first chapter of a new World Rookie Tour history. We nominated the first ever World Rookie Freeski Champion and welcomed here all those rising freeski star in such a unique event is the beginning of a new saga: after scouting in the snowboard community, the Black Yeti is now searching and supporting also the future stars of freesking. Yesterday, the Snowpark Seiser Almwas the center of attention, where the rookies and groms showed their skills in three runs, with the best run counting.
Rookie Ulrik Samnøy (Norway) took home the win and glory with his impressive third run which consisted of a Leftside Fs 360 Switchup, Rightise Blidside 630 out, Rightside Double Cork 1260 Safety, Switch Leftside Triple Cork 1260 Safety and finishing off with a Leftside Double Cork 1260 Blunt. Second place went to the italian talent Leonardo Donaggio and the third place to the norvegian Tevje Skaug.
The World Rookie Freeski Champion, Ulrik Samnøy, officially started his carrier as professional freeskier winning a spot in the legendary Audi Nines and one in the next FIS World Cup Tour! Moreover, he was rewarded with other incredible prizes: an invitation to the World Rookie Tour Shooting to be held in Les 2 Alpes, France, from the 10th to the 13th of July 2019, an invitation to the Summer Rookie Trip, a surf trip to Santader by SurftoLive.com and many other goodies offered by Level Gloves, TSG Protections and FATCAN poles. Last but not least, Ulrik was invited to join the Völkl and Marker Freeski Team and won a sponsorship by FATCAN.
In the Grom category, Matej Svancer (Czech Republic) conquered the podium with his second run: Leftside 270 on, Leftside Blind 630 out, Rightside Cork 720 Safety, Leftside Double Cork 1260 Blunt, Switch Leftside Double Cork 1080 Safety. Matej was followed by Gian Andri Bolinger from Switzerland, who ended up second, and by Noah Ressel from Austria, who won the third place. Also the grom winners were rewarded with many prizes such as: three surf trips by SurftoLive.com, many goodies by Level Gloves, TSG Protections and FATCAN poles and three sponsorships by FATCAN.
“Oh my God! I’m blown away by the level of riding! The future of freeskiing has been set to a new standard. I’m super stoked to be part of the WRT and I’m looking forward to give riders from all around the world a chance to take their career to the next level! We will continue to keep the stoke and hope many more riders will join us next year!” stated full of enthusiasm Martin Misof, the International Freeski Guru and member of the WRF Freeski committee.
However, as World Rookie Tour tradion, the World Rookie Finals freeski were not just about competition. Skiers had the opportunity to participate in many activities. Indeed, the first day they took part in the event presentation and in the welcome party at Stanglerhof and were entertained by Schuhplattler dancers. Furthermore, in the next days the WRT staff organized two workshops where rookies and groms could have fun, know each others and get a taste of the South Tyrolean culture learning how to cook Knödel and dance the Schuhplattler.

For the first time ever the Black Yeti landed in Seiser Alm, Italy, for the 2019 World Rookie Freeski Finals, where the most prominent freeskiers and the winners of the previous stops in USA, Italy and Austria, will have the chance to compete for a “never seen before” prize money.
Yesterday, Seiser Alm welcomed almost 50 enthusiastic athletes from 8 different Nations, ready to fight for victory in the perfectly shaped Seiser Alm Snowpark. The huge competition set up, the same of the last FIS World Cup and built by F-Tech crew, consists of five sections complete with enormous kickers and multiple rails with different obstacles that can inspire the riders to put down their most creative tricks. During the training in fact, all the freeskiers exhibited a very high level of riding, demonstrated by an impressive style.
In the afternoon, our rookies and groms joined the event presentation and welcome party at Stanglerhof where the Black Yeti prepared a special surprise for them: a demostration of the Schuhplattler dance, the traditional style of folk dance popular in the regions of Bavaria and Tyrol. Tomorrow all the athletes and coaches will have the possibilities to get in touch with the real Spirit of South Tyrol thanks to a special cooking and dancing lesson, learning how to make Knödel and dance the Schuhplattlen.
About the competition, all the prizes are developed in order to support the carrier of the athletes and help them in becoming tomorrow’s stars of freeski. The 2019 World Rookie Tour Freeski Champions, male and female, will be invited to join to the legendary Audi Nines, and will get a spot in the next FIS World Cup tour, while all the strongest skiers will be awarded with prestigious prices offered by the sponsors such as: invitations to the World Rookie Tour Shooting to be held in Les 2 Alpes, France, from the 10th to the 13th of July 2019, an invitation to the Summer Rookie Trip, 6 surf trips to Santander by SurftoLive.com, and many goodies by Level Gloves, TSG Protections and FATCAN poles.
Last but not least, the male champion will be invited to join the Völkl and Marker Freeski Team with an official rookie sponsorship program to support the beginning of his professional carrier and the best groms will win a sponsorship by FATCAN.

Last weekend, the 23rd and the 24th of March, went down the FIS Junior Freeski Europe Tour organized by Vitamin F freestyle club in the amazing KronplatzFUN snowpark.
21 skiers from Italy, Czech Republic, Austria and Germany were welcomed by two sunny days and a well-shaped snowpark and were ready to compete and show their best tricks to win a qualification spot in the World Rookie Finals Freeski, which will take place at Seiser Alm from the 18th to the 21st of March!
At the end of day Svancer Matej (CZE), Leitner Simon (ITA) and Bacher Daniel (AUT) won respectively the first, the second and the third place and a qualication ticket to the Finals. Furthermore, Lerchbaumer Manuel and Noah Ressel from Austria and Facchin Ivan from Italy also got a spot in the World Rookie Finals Freeski and will join the other young guns in South Tyrol at the end of March.
Last but not least, Svancer Matej, Leitner Simon and Noah Ressel won a surf trip to Santander, Spain, offered by SurftoLive!

Last weekend, the 9th and 10th of February, in Keystone, under an awesome bluebird Colorado sky, took place the freeski and snowboard A51 Grom Fest!
The American resort welcomed 96 freeskiers and 124 snowboarders which showed an incredible riding level. The best athletes of the A51 Grom Fest Freeski have been qualified for the World Rookie Finals Freeski which will be held in Seiser Alm, Italy,from the 18th to the 21st of March, where they will meet the best young guns coming from all over the world.
Whereas the three best grom snowboaders (male and female) have been qualified for the World Rookie Finals Snowboard that will take place in Kitzsteinhorn – Zell am See-Kaprun, Austria, from the 25th to the 30th of March 2019!
After 15 years of snowboarding the Black Yeti is now going to find the future stars of freeskiand is therefore happy to announce the Freeski World Rookie Fest 2019 in Austria.
From the 2nd to the 3rd of March the Nordkette Skyline Park in Innsbruck will host for the very first time the Freeski World Rookie Fest.
The park offers numerous obstacles, rails, tubes and kickers for every riding level and will give skiers the chance to have fun and show their best tricks. The winners of the Freeski World Rookie Fest 2019 in Innsbruck will be qualified for the 2019 World Rookie Freeski in Seiser Alm, from the 18th to the 21st of March, where they will meet the best young guns coming from all over the world.
Moreover, thanks to the partnership with the world-famous Audi Nines the male and female winners of the world finals in Seiser Alm will win a ticket to this prestigious event where they will compete against the best pro skiers and will officially start their carrier as professional freeskiers.

After the announcement of the 2019 World Rookie Tour Freeski, the Black Yeti is happy to announce the partnership with the FIS Junior Freeski Europe Tour 2019.
Thanks to the partnership with the FIS Junior Freeski Europe Tour the best World Rookie Tour freeskiers will have the chance to compete in the finals and to meet the strongest athletes from all over world.
From the 23rd to the 24th of March the snowpark KronplatzFUN will host the FIS Junior Freeski Europe Tour organized by Vitamin F freestyle club. The competition is taking place for the first time ever and it will be a huge opportunity for every young athlete to show his or her skills on international level.
The three best skiers of the category “Girls” and “Boys”: Age group 2001-2002-2003 and age group 2004-2005 qualify directly into the finals of the World Rookie Tour taking place at Seiser Alm from 18th to 21st March 2019.
Moreover, the two best competitors of the category Boys (2005-2001) will get a surf camp ticket in Santander. The third ticket will be drawn amongst the remaining finalists of the same category. The ticket includes 7 overnight stays with breakfast, 5 days of surf training (two hours a day) including equipment and insurance!
