World Rookie Tour will debut in surfing at Nimbus Surf Hero 2021

World Rookie Tour, the most important international reference for all young athletes who want to earn a space in the professionalism of action sports, will debut in the world of surfing in 2021 with one of the most important youth events of Italian scene: Nimbus Surf Hero.

– Waiting period extended till December 2021 –

Snowboard, freeski, skateboard and now also surfing: in 2021 a new adventure starts thanks to the partnership signed between Black Yeti and the Nimbus Surfing Club in Marina di Pietrasanta, Tuscany, Italy.

Over 100 surfers are pre-registered for the Nimbus Surf Hero, valid as a stop of the Italian Wave Surfing Championships. From 15th September to 15th November, the piers of Marina di Pietrasanta and Forte dei Marmi will become the spots dedicated to the 6th edition of shortboard Championship categories U12, U14, U16 and U18. The event will take place thanks to the collaboration between the Nimbus Surfing Club and the Compagnia della Vela of Forte dei Marmi.

“We are very proud that this year the Nimbus Surf Hero has become one of the three stops valid for the Fisw junior Italian championship. The race has always been one of the most attended of the junior promotional circuit – comments president’s of the Nimbus Surfing Club, Giovanni Briganti – as proof of his importance the federation has chosen it to be included in the championship tests. Both piers are premium spots of Italian surfing scene. At the moment, the turnout of participant is good and we expect to reach 120 athletes, the double if compared to the previous edition”.

The athletes who will arrive in Versilia come from all over Italy. These are the best surfers of Bel Paese. Some of them are promises of Italian surfing scene and, in the near future, they will make good results even at international level.

The selected location includes two competition fields at Forte dei Marmi’s jetty and a base for all other activities at the Nimbus Surfing Club in Marina di Pietrasanta. Two well known locations in the province of Lucca, with an incredible landscape characterized by an amazing natural background: the Apuan Alps.

By enhancing an area rich in art and culture, winners of each category will be rewarded with an art-work made by the painter Vincenzo Ganadu, an icon of surf art.

In the year of surfing’s debut as an Olympic discipline in Tokyo 2021 Games, the Black Yeti is proud to expand into new seas and welcome young surfers with open arms.

Shingo Shiotani, organizer and local legend, has made possible the event, making it a part of the tour named “6556 CUP”. So the first event of the tour, 6556 CUP Vol.1, became the first World Rookie Tour Asian qualifying event. Thanks Shingo, from the all WRT staff!

About the contest, it is nice remembering that the youngest skater was Kai Wataru, just 7 years old, while the oldest was 19 years old. Ishimaru Aoi (16 years old) was the best Girls, Sasaki Toa the best Grom Boy (14 years old), and Sasaki Raimu (17 years old) the Rookie winner.

Big thanks to the great MC Rei Takazawa and DJ Arisha Sakata: with their reggae music made people very excited!

Thanks also to the star skate judges Masahiro Sakata, Masatoshi Kimura and Kotaro Kawai!

Black Yeti announces the Skateboard Rookie Rank

Discover all the info about rank and take some note about next stops:
Hamburg Rookie Fest (GER) and Romagna Rookie Fest (ITA)

Ready to drop into the history? The World Rookie Tour is working hard to make the best approach about our events and the final qualification criteria. That’s why the Black Yeti is ready to launch the new World Rookie Rank for skateboarding!

The Skateboard Rookie Rank is a ranking system developed as a qualification criterion for the World Rookie Finals and as a base for National Rookie Ranks. During the World Rookie Tour each official WRT event and many other partner events, will assign valuable points for the World Rookie Rank. At the moment the featured events are only street competitions organized by local clubs, organizers or national Sk8 federations.

Not only events the World Rookie Fest´s can be part of the Skateboard Rookie Rank. Any event can be part of the Skateboard Rookie Rank as long as grom – and rookie aged riders participate as well. For example, the European Best Foot Forward Tour by Blue-Tomato, featuring 10 stops all over Europe, for riders of all ages in one group, is already part of the Skateboard Rookie Rank.

Skateboard Rookie Rank registration and information for Organizer´s under this email address: registration@worldrookietour.com

The rider’s position in the ranking is determined by his/her average rank points calculated from three best results in the respective discipline (at the moment street only). The total summary points of 3 results or less divided always by 3 (also in case there is only one or 2 results).

Skateboard Rookie Rank is available here: www.worldrookietour.com/ranking

Categories for 2021:
Skateboard Rookie Rank – Girl Rookie (01.01.2000 and younger)
Skateboard Rookie Rank – Boy Rookie (born 01.01.2000 till 31.12.2005)
Skateboard Rookie Rank – Boy Grom (born 01.01.2006 and younger)
Skateboard Rookie Rank – Boy Overall (Rookie and Grom Man together)

Note About Girl Grom Category
We decided for the first season to have only one rank for Girls. This is due to the lower participation of Girls and the fact that, on almost all events at the moment, there is not a full Rookie and Grom Girls Podium. This leads to inconsistency in the Rank. But in general we are a big Fan of Girls Skateboarding and will have as well Grom Girls Podium with prices on all events with at least 3 participants per category, including the awarding of quali Tickets to the Finals.
