Results of the French Fries Rookie Fest

The 4th edition of the French Fries Rookie Fest was held in Avoriaz, France and included both slopestyle and halfpipe disciplines of the World Rookie Tour. Highest podiums of each categories went to the chilena Antonia Yanez (groms girls) and the Swiss Ariana Bellwad (rookie women), while among men Swiss Gian Sutter was best on groms boy sand Michael Sharer for the rookie men.

81 riders from 13 different countries including New Zealand, Chile and Guatemala, shred the structures of the snowpark Arare where the set up of the slopestyle course consisted of three rail lines, a jump, an hip and a final wall.

The bad weather of the final day of the slopestyle contest did not stop the Black Yeti and his fellows. Despite the heavy snowfall during the night the riders shred the three runs as planned showing power and style run after run: among the grom girl was reconfirmed in the first place Antonia Yanez, followed by Slovenian Kaja Verdnik and the swiss Aline Eyer.

In the rookie girl category the belgian Loranne Smans got first place followed by the french Margot Zoppi and the swiss Ariana Bellwald.
On first place of the grom boys category Gian Sutter recorfermed his good skills, followed by the english Fin Bremner and the guatemalan Juan Cachat. Michael Scharer won the slopestyle contest of French Fries Rookie Fest 2014 followed by swedish Anthon Bosch and the dutch Bing Voorham. His run of the victory was made of frontside 720 , backside 360 on the hip, frontside 360 on the wall.

On Monday, the sun came back again on Avoriaz for the halfpipe contest and within two hours of training, riders got familiar with the structure and showed the maximum in the three runs of the contest.

The best run of the grom girl was for the english Ayla Thilding, followed by slovenian Kaja Verdnik and Aline Eyer from Switzerland. Best Rookie Girl the local Margot Zoppi followed by two english Masie Potter and Natalie Silkstone.

Super level for the grom that in the overall ranks obtained the highest score: swiss podium with Gian Sutter in first place, Ali Ochsenbein in second place followed by Elias Gian Allenspach.
In the rookie category of this first edition of halfpipe of the French Fries Rookie Fest the french Timothé Baisamy got first place followed by the Swedish Anthon Bosch and the Dutch Bing Voorham.

Zillertal Valley Ralley 3rd tourstop

On January 25th and 26th 2014 the Zillertal VÄLLEY RÄLLEY hosted by Ride Snowboards visited the scenic Actionpark Zillertal Arena for its third tourstop. About sixty riders from all over Europe showed up at Zillertal Arena to compete in the open slopestyle contest on Saturday.

Zillertal VÄLLEY RÄLLEY hosted by Ride Snowboards 3. Tourstop “Zillertal Arena” from Ästhetiker on Vimeo.

Czech shredder Jan Rovensky took first place on the groms podium, while German snowboarder Martina Zollner won the girls contest and Toms Petrusevics from Latvia was unbeatable in the men´s category. Englishman and Zillertal seasoner Simon Cudlip earned the best trick award and Austrian up-and-coming talent Nico Winkler was rewarded with the title of the “Super Grom of the Day.” Thirty motivated snowboarders did not get undeterred by heavy snowfalls and poor visibility on Sunday morning. Together with their coaches they had a lot of fun shredding powder and park at Zillertal Arena.

Manfred Brandacher and his team from Uniqueparks.com did a great job to provide a nice setup with numerous options. On Saturday, riders from all over Europe nailed down pretentious tricks in the open slopestyle contest. It was Jan Rovensky from Czech Republic who took the top spot on the groms podium, in front of Florian Woerndl from Austria and German ripper Max Gruenwald, who managed to keep the lead in the VÄLLEY RÄLLEY tour ranking with this result. Nico Winkler from Austria went home as happy “Super Grom of the Day.” Martina Zollner from Germany claimed the title in the girls category. Local Zillertal rider Eva Gruber became second and Agnieszka Rusin from Poland completed the women´s podium.

Toms Petrusevics from Latvia won the men´s contest and left his countryman Arturs Cukunde in second place. Local Zillertal styler Alexander Walch climbed the podium in third place and saved himself the top spot in the overall Zillertal VÄLLEY RÄLLEY tour ranking. Englishman Simon Cudlip won the best trick award with his stylish Cab 450 boardslide 270 out.

All podium winners took home mad-prizes from Ride Snowboards, prize money and shopping vouchers from HOTZONE.TV. The new Zillertal VÄLLEY RÄLLEY partner Leatherman sponsored a Leatherman Snowboard Tool for the best trick and groms winner.

Heavy snowfalls could not stop the motivated participants of the snowboard pro coaching sessions on Sunday. Together with their coaches they shredded park and powder at Zillertal Arena all day long, learning new tricks and tipps from Steve Gruber, Klaus Hofmeister and Chris Kroell.

With their participation at Zillertal Arena, all riders collect points for the Zillertal VÄLLEY RÄLLEY Overall Tour Ranking and World Snowboard Tour Ranking. At the very last tour-stop in Mayrhofen a Prince, Queen and a King of the VÄLLEY will be crowned and honored with one of the highly coveted starting spots for the National Championships N.ASA Shred Down Austrian Masters Slopestyle. The Overall Rookie Tour Champion also wins a starting spot for the World Rookie Finals.
