From Europe to Asia: World Rookie Tour is on fire

The best rookies on their way to Innsbruck to the Finals, from 30 September to 2nd October

How many kilometres Black Yeti does it in a season? We reliably don’t know. Honestly, we are just glad to have all these young passionate skaters competing and shredding together. This would therefore appear to be a good point to take stock of the situation.

European Updates
Black Yeti has already been in Romania, Bulgaria, Finland and Germany, and now, before the Big Finals in Innsbruck, Austria, it’s about to land in Switzerland (Winterthur 2.3 September), UK (Manchester 17.18 September), Romania again (Cluj Napoca 8.11 September), Portugal (Lisbon 9 September), Italy (Modena 17.18 September), Greece (Athen 23.24 September) and Czech Republic (Prague 23.25 September).

News from Asia
Unfortunately, Japan Rookie Fest is not confirmed but don’t worry because Black Yeti will land for the first time in South East Asia, precisely in Phnom Penh for the Cambodia Rookie Fest. On the 28th august, the contest will take place at the Factory Phnom Peng Skatepark. Expected live DJs, special world food and drink to make this day a memorable one! More info available at this link.

So, World Rookie Tour Skateboarding 2022 is on fire.

Japan Rookie Fest Cancelled

Black Yeti is sad to announce the cancellation of the Japanes WRT Sk8 Qualifier for 2022. Due to difficult economical situation the local organizing committe didn’t find enough financial support from local partners in order to run the event as planned but we promise to come back in the land of Samurai in 2023 with skateboard and snowboard events.

If you dream to become a professional action sport athlete,

Red Bull Hammers with Homies: brand new event partner for the Black Yeti

Madonna di Campiglio, Trentino, Italy

During the Easter weekend, April 16 – 17, the international finals of Red Bull Hammers with Homies contest were held in Madonna di Campiglio, Trentino, Italy. Surrounded by magnificent views, the athletes challenged each other in two team comps during the intense weekend of sport, adrenaline and music: rail contest on Saturday and slopestyle on Sunday.

Why do we tell you all this? As you probably know, last year World Rookie Tour and Red Bull have ratified the partnership for the winter closing event in Italy, the international Red Bull Hammers with Homies, and many rookies from our qualification events had been invited.

From Finland, the “Kona Team” that won the invitation during the last World Rookie Finals in Kaprun, ranked third at the rail jam on Saturday and at the slopestyle on Sunday. “Team Frenchies” from France, invited from World Rookie Fest in Livigno, finished fourth at the rail jam and also at the slopestyle. The Dust team formed also by old acquaintances of the rookie tour as Nick Puenter and Davide Boggio and, as well, new talent such as Alex Lotorto, won the Hammers with Homies rail jam.

Going into the event detail, the 15 crews from all over the world had the opportunity to unleash their best tricks and showcase their team creativity.

The shapers of the Ursus Snowpark, together with F-Tech Snowpark Design, created a terrifying rail set for the City Rail Contest on Saturday. A crowd of public watched and cheered for the 15 teams made up of 3 riders each, who are challenged by the Knock-Out System to the best of the single dry run. A race full of tension and adrenaline, which attracted everyone’s attention. The Dust team, made up of Alex Lotorto, Davide Boggio and Nick Puenter, won the first place. In second place the Nitro International Sick Dragons Slayerz 43 team with Alexis Roland, Simon Gschainder and Nils Arvidsson. Third place for the Team Kona from Finland: Elias Hamalainen, Mitja Kauranen, Roni Aalto.

A real party for snowboarders and non-snowboarders who were able to continue to have fun dancing to the notes of the well-known Italian hip hop artist “Salmo”.

On Easter Sunday the competition moved to the top of the mountain at the Ursus Snowpark, where it was the turn of the Team Slopestyle Battle. The format included the execution of two runs each with access to the finals of the best 8 crews. The finalists then challenged each other via the Knock-Out System with a single race. The final saw local heroes “The Ursus Hunters” and the “Sick Dragons Slayerz 43” compete in three runs full of tricks, creativity and teamwork. In second and third place we find the winning crews of the rail contest: Sick Dragons Slayerz 43 in second place and Team Kona in third. The Ursus Hunters team composed by Leo Framarin, Emil Zulian and Nicola Liviero (all former rookies) was crowned the best snowboarder crew of Red Bull Hammers with Homies 2022.

The judges rewarded the team spirit, that is how the riders interacted with each other, highlighting the quality of the individual and the group, creativity in the choice and interpretation of the structures and tricks created and the technical execution of the maneuvres.

Red Bull Hammers With Homies turns out to be not only a competition, but a real snowboard show that has also attracted the attention of everybody on the slopes.

Look at the following LINK the video report of the coolest snowboard weekend of the season and see you next year!

Many Medals and Finals for the Olympian Rookies in Beijing 2022

Olympics are over and our ex rookies and former World Rookie Tour Champions have conquered 4 medals and 24 spots in snowboard and freeski finals. In addition, we had miscalculated in the last PR: from World Rookie Tour events in the last years, the Black Yeti accompanied to the Olympics more than 50 athletes in snowboard and freeski competions! A great pride for all of us, a great recognition for those who have made the future of these young rippers, its mission.

The Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games gave us important results, Olympic snowboard medals and excellent placings. In chronological order:

Sena Tomita, Japan,  Bronze in Beijin 2022 female half pipe, WRT HP Champ 2017
Jan Scherrer, Swiss, Bronze in Beijin 2022 male half pipe, WRT Grom Champ 2007
Kokomo Murase, Japan,  Bronze in Beijin 2022 female big air, WRT Champ 2017 and 2018
Mons Roisland, Norway,  Silver in Beijin 2022 male big air, WRT Champ 2015

It has been great following you all from the very early stage of your carrier until these great achievements. Thank you all!

The Black Yeti continues its race straight to the 2022 World Rookie Finals

Time to start again with the latest opportunities to reach the Big Finals. QKLS Rookie Fest (Vuokatti, Finland, from 17/18 March 2022) and Indy Park Jam Rookie Fest (Nekoma, Japan, 19/20 March 2022) will be welcome the snowboarders that would like to conquer the finals. On the freeskiers side, Innsbruck Rookie Fest (Innsbruck, Austria, 3/6 March 2022) and Kronplatz Rookie Fest (Kronplatz, Italy, 11/13 March 2022) are waiting all the young rippers around Europe.

More information about the last events will be available really soon on our website and social pages.

Finally, yet importantly, remember that the World Rookie Snowboard Finals will be back in Austria, at Kitzsteinhorn – Zell am See-Kaprun from the 24th of March to the 3rd of April 2022, while World Rookie Freeski Finals will be held for the first time in Madonna di Campiglio, Italy, from the 20th of March to the 23rd of March 2022.

See you on the slopes rookies!

Video Highlights from 2022 World Rookie Fest in Livigno

The Snowboard & Freeski Edition!!!

Livigno welcomed the international young stars of snowboarding and for the first time, freeskiing.

Riders from 13 different Nations displayed a crazy high level of riding in the premium freestyle terrain and a perfect playground for all the rippers, Mottolino Snowpark.
The program of 2022 World Rookie Fest has been reduced because of the Covid emergency, but all the riders and families were able to enjoy this great winter experience. The activities for the rider, for examples, included avalanche clinics and night rail jams.

Watch what happened in Livigno, the best playground for freestyler.
