2018 WRF – Strong wind and awesome Workshops

As announced, the third day of the 2018 World Rookie Finals in Kaprun was too windy to allow the start of the competition. Anyway, all the riders were motivated and took advantage of the time for some extra training in the halfpipe.

The weather was better and the motivation was incredible at the Elementary School of Kaprun, where during the morning, three first grade classes had the chance to enjoy a snowboard introduction course. Thanks to Burton Riglet boards and some other games, each class had the possibility to have fun and learn some basics movements on the board. Tomorrow, the kids will go up to the mountain to try what they have learnt on real snow.

The Jufa Hotel in Kaprun was the place to be in the afternoon and early evening for both rookies and grooms.  Viva con Agua hosted the first workshop with the goal to raise the kids’ awareness about the importance of water and the difficulties that some countries have in finding clean and drinkable water.

Later in the afternoon, Miriam Deller, from Kimiyo, gave the possibility to everybody to relax, practicing Yoga. The last workshop was done by Gorilla where the kids enjoyed preparing some fruit smoothies and got some tips how to eat properly to gain the maximum amount of energy.

World Rookie Tour conquers the United States of America

The World Rookie Tour is having success not only among riders in Europe, but also in other continents. For the first time the Black Yeti arrives in the United States with three World Rookie Tour events: the USASA Grom Fest Keystone, the USASA Grom Fest Breckenridge and the Mammoth Rev Tour Rookie Fest in amazing resorts and snowparks. The first event, the USASA Grom Fest Keystone, took place on the 10th of February at Keystone’s A51 Terrain Park. Training day is over at the DEEJAY Xmasters World Rookie Fest

Under clear blue sky, the day of training for the all riders went down today at Mottolino Snowpark! Rookies and groms certainly had the skills to impress the judges!

All boys and girls have enjoyed the stunning set up, thanks to the hard work of the shapers that this morning have finished freeing the park from the meter of fresh snow fallen in last two days. All the guys got their chance to taste the slopestyle course.

After a snowboarding day the Black Yeti has decided that is relax time. Until 10pm all riders and coaches can have fun at Aquagranda.

Big Final will go down tomorrow: each rider have 2 run to do their best, best round count as final result.

Livigno and Mottolino Snowpark welcomed over 100 competitors from 11 different Nations aged 9 to 18, competing in this year DEEJAY Xmasters World Rookie Fest.

Today, January 21, all participants haven’t the chance to test the slopestyle setup during the open training session due to heavy snow fall and strong wind up in the mountain. The Race Director has decided to suspend the competition for today waiting for the weather conditions get better. It’s hell of World Snowboard Day, literally.

The amazing set up that shapers crew had made is under 60cm of fresh snow. Course line consists of three lines: Line M with 3 jump and jib obstacles, line L and XL 2 jump each and 2 table jibbing with pooljam, flat rail, Oakley elephantrail, and it waits for shredding by rookies.

Also the DEEJAY Xmasters village had to fight bad weather but it doesn’t prevail. Thanks to excellent team the village has been moved next to the start of Mottolino Gondola in no time. For today and tomorrow Oakley and GORE-TEX will give you the chance to test on the field and in all conditions clothing, technical equipment, cars and accessories. And if you have your skis or snowboard Maxi Sport will do a free check up of that. Between a test and check Lavazza and Eraclea will warm you with a good coffee or a cup of hot chocolate. If the weather doesn’t convince you, Jeep awaits you at the Mottolino gondola parking for a super excited test drive.

However the day ended in the best way, all together, with a great opening ceremony: all rookies comes to race office to watch the video première of the first part from 2017 World Rookie Tour TV Show & World Rookie Shooting in Kaprun and to have, as usual, the welcome party.

In the next days Mottolino Snowpark will host the training postponed today, qualification and the finals. The race format will be decided after the training day. Right now, the next appointment is for tomorrow morning, Monday 22, at 10.30am for training session.
