It’s been a week full of surprises, tricks, fun and adrenaline in Kaprun! New and old friends came together to celebrate their love for snowboarding and we couldn’t be more happy of the results! Let’s get to know the new World Rookie Champions
Riders from all over the world met in Austria, in a perfectly adapted Kitzsteinhorn Snowpark, for a unique sports and lifestyle event, in a great international scenario. The program of 2022 World Rookie Finals included Slopestyle and Halfpipe contest and many lifestyle activities: social dinners, workshops with Viva con Aqua, Yoga, MonEpic workshop, and more.
For the first time ever the welcome was thrilling above all expectations. World Rookie Snowboard Finals opening ceremony in fact, spread love and an international message of peace: in the centre of the rider’s heart, the Black Yeti stands with the Ukrainian flag. As you know, Black Yeti working not only to offer a great competition but also a unique international opportunity for personal growth to all our riders, coaches, partners, and friends. The message is clear: together we are stronger! In addition, after the emotional ceremony workshops about “basic human rights” in cooperation with the Safe Shred WSF program, and about “Wood Transfer Photography” by Monepic.com took place.
About the competitions, our rookies gave to the judges some hard time with their amazing performances.
Unfortunately, this year the slopestyle finals got cut short due to the bad weather conditions, but luckily everyone was able to send it in the qualifications and here’s the athletes that got the top podium spots.

The Black Yeti is looking forward to welcome the next World Rookie Tour Snowboard Champions. Only the best young guns from the previous World Rookie Tour stops will join this legendary event. As always the winners of the World Rookie Finals will be awarded with incredible prizes: wildcards to World Class Events such as the Red Bull Hammers with Homies international finals in Madonna di Campiglio, invitations to Red Bull Special Experience, Surf Camp by Surftolive.com and many tickets to next season World Rookie Tour events.

Madonna di Campiglio crowns the young freeski world champions
Madonna di Campiglio welcomed 60 young and fierce athletes from all over the world: Japan, Australia, Argentina, Holland, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, France, Germany, UK, United States, Italy, together to show their talent and earn the title of the new World Rookie Freeski Champion 2022. The context was spectacular, with an Ursus Snowpark perfect for the occasion.
The race set up built specifically for the slopestyle contest organized by the staff of the Black Yeti, the legendary mascot of the World Rookie Tour, included 3 tables with kickers of 15, 18 and 20 meters, while the set of rails gave the possibility to choose between different structures, then concluding the race on the final wall ride.
The race sanctioned the victory of the Norwegian ripper Leo Landroe in the Rookie category, followed by two Swiss: Fadri Rhyner and Gian Andri Bolinger. Leo won thanks to a run consisting of switch left 1080 tailgrab, switch regular double twelve safety grab, left triple 1440 mute grab, switchslide back 640 and switchslide front 270.
The female category saw the victory of the young Dutch Zoe Van Essen with a switch left 540 safety grab, right 360, left 720 safety grab, switchslide, left 1. Follow her, the Australian Daisy Thomas and the Swiss Anouk Andraska.
In the Grom category the Swiss Viktor Alexander Maksyagin got the better of the Austrian Andreas Penz with a run made up of switch left double 9 safety grab, right double 10 safety grab, left double 10 safety grab, switchslide front 4, left 1 front 2 out. The Swedish Theo Thoren follows in third position.
One of the main features of the World Rookie Tour events is the attention to the personal growth of the young participants, offering them a 360° life experience. Not only competition but also collateral activities and non-cash prizes; opportunities to enter the professional world. The winners, both male and female, will participate in the FIS World Cup 2023, the Red Bull Infinite Lines 2023 in Avoriaz, France, the Prime Park Sessions in Stubai, Austria, and the Absolute Spring Battle 2023 in Flachauwinkl, Austria.
The activities proposed by the 2022 edition of the World Rookie Freeski Finals were an afternoon dedicated to acrobatic training thanks to the support of the Freestyle Academy in Madonna di Campiglio and the appreciated permanent presence of the osteopath Marco Pandartico at the service of athletes, coaches and staff.

The international racing circuit dedicated to young athletes under 18, the World Rookie Freeski Finals, have officially begun!
Madonna di Campiglio, Trentino, Italy, is the perfect location for the international debut of 60 talents come from all over the world: Japan, Australia, Argentina, Holland, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, France, Germany, UK, United States and of course, Italy.
The World Rookie Tour is not only competition, but also an opportunity to get to know the world through sport in a perfect combination of competitions and collateral activities that make each event of the World Rookie Tour an important personal growth experience for all young athletes who participate in it.
“We expect a high-level event from a competitive point of view, but above all we want to give the participants an experience of personal growth and knowledge of the Trentino area,” said Marco Sampaoli, event director and co-founder of the tour.
Furthermore, the philosophy of the World Rookie Tour is not to deliver cash prizes to the winners, but the opportunity to land directly in the official world freeski circuits. The World Rookie Freeski Champion who will be crowned in Madonna di Campiglio, both male and female, will begin his/her career by winning an official qualifying spot in the next World Cup season, the FIS World Cup 2023.
In addition, Champions will have the opportunity to experience special training during the Prime Park Session in Stubai, Austria, Red Bull Infinite Lines 2023 to be held in Avoriaz, France and the Absolute Spring Battle 2023 in Flachauwinkl, Austria.
Slopestyle course
The managers of the Ursus Snowpark have built a snow park specifically for the World Rookie Freeski Finals, creating a perfect race course for athletes which will allow them to express their talent to the fullest. Participants will battle on two distinct lines, the M and the L, on jumps ranging from 10 to 23 meters, multiple obstacles and a final wall to complete their performance.

Last weekend the Kronplatz Rookie Fest went down with a perfect conditions, thanks to the Vitamin-F crew. About the podium, on the girls side Maya Recla took the first spot, follow Heidi Psescollderung and Nina Mairhofer. Grom men podium is formed by Laurin Volgger, Marco Kloetzl and Simon Hainz while for the Rookie men Thomas Auer, Fabio Pfeffer and Valetin Auer.

The most anticipated event of the entire World Rookie Tour Freeski is just around the corner and the enthusiasm that accompanies it is palpable! Freeskiers from all over the world will live an unforgettable experience, full of events, activities and fun. Madonna di Campiglio and the incredible Ursus Snowpark in fact, will host young guns from four different continents: Japan, Australia, Argentina, Nederland, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, France, Germany, Sweden, USA and of course Italy.
Incredible prizes await riders in Italy: the 2022 World Rookie Tour Freeski Champions, both male and female, will have the possibilities to join the professional community directly by winning the last spots for the FIS World Cup 2023 and a special training week at Prime Session in Stubai, Austria. Male champion will be also won an invite to the Red Bull Infinite Lines 2023 that will take place in Avoriaz, France and to Absolute Spring Battle 2023 in Flachauwinkl, Austria. In addition, for all the podium rookie riders will be awarded surf camps by our historic partner SurftoLive and prizes in products by TSG, Jail Jam, Blue Tomato. Grom champions will get the “WRT Golden Ticket” which will allow all-inclusive and free participation for every 2023 WRT Freeski Events.
In addition and for the first time, the World Rookie Tour has decided to create a digital competition for the kids, parallel to the freestyle ski finals! The “Spin-Off” Challenge, will take place on OUTBND, The Action Sports Social Network: here the riders will post their favorite spin and vote each other for a chance to win WRT signature merchandising. It’s an amazing opportunity to digitalize the rookie community, allowing the kids to stay in touch even after the competition ends.
Competition Slope Style set up and skatepark facility
The Ursus Snowpark shaper crew created a dedicated set up for the WRT Freeski Finals in order to create the best competitive environment and allow the riders to express their highest level. Competitors will battle on 2 different lines, M and L, counting each 3 jumps from 10m to 23m, multiple rails obstacle, and a final wall ride. Finally Pinzolo, the mountain town where we will stay, hosts a nice concrete skatepark so bring your skateboard to have fun with your friends.

The best of the Kronplatz Rookie Fest is yet to come with its second edition in less than 2 months. Kronplatz Snowpark is a premium freestyle terrain managed by local club “Vitamin F”. This event belongs to the Italian Freeski Rookie Experience, the Italian leg of the WRT Freeskiing which includes 3 slopestyle events in a row throughout the best Italian snowparks, Livigno, Kronplatz and Madonna di Campiglio.

There are 3 types of packages:
– Option 1: entry fee and 3-day lift tickets at 125€ for riders and 80€ for coach.
– Option 2: entry fee and 2-day lift tickets at 100€ for riders and 50€ for coach.
– Option 3: entry fee at 50€ for riders.
The extra cost for a lift ticket is 25€ per day.

Age Groups
2021/2022 World Rookie Tour events are reserved to Rookies (born from 1st of January 2004 to 31st of December 2006) and Groms (born from 1st of January 2007 and up), both male and female. All contests in the World Rookie Tour will generate valuable results for the World Rookie Rank and all the riders on the podium will be qualified for the end of season World Rookie Finals.

All the podium winners from Kronplatz Rookie Fest slopestyle, male and female, grom and rookie, will be qualified for the 2022 World Rookie Freeski Finals. Furthermore, the best riders of the event will be crowned and celebrated with prestigious awards: 2 all-inclusive tickets for the 2022 World Rookie Finals in Madonna di Campiglio (TN) – Italy, 6 surf camps in Santander by Surftolive.com and other prizes.

Nordkette Skyline Park – Innsbruck, Tirol, Austria, 04. – 06. March 2022
Innsbruck, Austria, is proud to host the 4th edition of the Freeski World Rookie Fest from 04 to 06 March 2022. Once again Nordkette Skyline Park will host the next generation of Freeski to showcase the future of the sport. Riders will hit the Slopestyle course above Innsbruck to determine who will get tickets for this year’s World Rookie Tour finals later on this season.

ENTRY CRITERIA TO THE NORDKETTE SKYLINE PARK FREESKI WORLD ROOKIE FEST Slopestyle (who can join)
– Riders, male and female, born 1st January 2004 and younger are admitted into the rookie fest.
– Riders will be divided in two age groups: born 2004 until 2006 (Rookies) – 2007 and younger (Groms).
Registration and entries
Entries will be accepted without nations quotas and via the official FIS Team entry form by National Ski Associations or with the attached WRT Entry form. Entries has to be sent not later than 01.03.2022 to registration@worldrookietour.com
