The future of freeski is in Madonna di Campiglio with the World Rookie Freeski Finals

The international racing circuit dedicated to young athletes under 18, the World Rookie Freeski Finals, have officially begun!

Madonna di Campiglio, Trentino, Italy, is the perfect location for the international debut of 60 talents come from all over the world: Japan, Australia, Argentina, Holland, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, France, Germany, UK, United States and of course, Italy.

The World Rookie Tour is not only competition, but also an opportunity to get to know the world through sport in a perfect combination of competitions and collateral activities that make each event of the World Rookie Tour an important personal growth experience for all young athletes who participate in it.

We expect a high-level event from a competitive point of view, but above all we want to give the participants an experience of personal growth and knowledge of the Trentino area,” said Marco Sampaoli, event director and co-founder of the tour.

Furthermore, the philosophy of the World Rookie Tour is not to deliver cash prizes to the winners, but the opportunity to land directly in the official world freeski circuits. The World Rookie Freeski Champion who will be crowned in Madonna di Campiglio, both male and female, will begin his/her career by winning an official qualifying spot in the next World Cup season, the FIS World Cup 2023.

In addition, Champions will have the opportunity to experience special training during the Prime Park Session in Stubai, Austria, Red Bull Infinite Lines 2023 to be held in Avoriaz, France and the Absolute Spring Battle 2023 in Flachauwinkl, Austria.

Slopestyle course
The managers of the Ursus Snowpark have built a snow park specifically for the World Rookie Freeski Finals, creating a perfect race course for athletes which will allow them to express their talent to the fullest. Participants will battle on two distinct lines, the M and the L, on jumps ranging from 10 to 23 meters, multiple obstacles and a final wall to complete their performance.

The Black Yeti will make a stop in Borovets, Bulgaria. Borovets is the first mountain resort of its
kind, in Bulgaria and on the entire Balkan range. Its origin dates back to 1896, when Kniaz
Ferdinand – Bulgaria’s monarch at the time, had his summer residence and several hunting lodges
built there. Located at Rila, which is the tallest mountain in Bulgaria and on the Balkan Peninsula.

It is located in the Sout-West part of the country and is part of the Rilo-Rhodope massif. With its
highest peak– Musala reaching 2925 m., Rila mountain ranges 6th among Europe’s tallest mountains behind the Caucasus, the Alps, the Sierra Nevada, the Pyrenees and Mount Etna.
Borovets is among the largest Bulgarian ski resorts in terms of length and capacity of ski trails and facilities. It is situated on the Northern slopes of the Musala ridge in the Eastern part of the Rila mountain. Huddled amid the century old pine forests above 1300 m. altitude, Borovets is the perfect place for winter sports and vacation.

Borosport launched the newly built terrain park “Fun Park Borovets”. The park is 250 m long and
has two lanes with different levels of difficulty suitable for both beginners and experts and everyone in between.

The park is situated on the right side of “Popangelov” ski slope after the detour for the Gondola lift and is serviced by “Yastrebetz Express” Quad.

The slopestyle set up for the event will be compact and technical so the fine performance and precise execution of the tricks, will be what the judges are going to be looking for.

World Rookie Fest 2022 Livigno: from Norway the first freeski Champion

For the first time in 17 years, World Rookie Fest and Livigno proudly opened the doors to freeskiers. In a perfect shaped Mottolino Snowpark, 40 international young stars from 10 different Nations met together to enjoy the Black Yeti winter experience.

Unfortunately, the program of 2022 World Rookie Fest has been reduced because of the Covid emergency, but all the riders and families were able to enjoy this great winter experience. The activities for the rider, for examples, included interesting avalanche clinics, relaxing yoga session and exciting night rail jams.

The rail jam located at the Snowpark20 showed an impressive riding, where all the freeskiers had lot of fun together. The victory went down to two Norwegians: William Heimdal Bostadløkken as the Best Rider and Leo Landrø with the Best trick.

These two young rippers showed a stunning level of riding also during the slopestyle Big Finals! In fact, in the Rookie Men category William Heimdal Bostadløkken stomped a huge run formed by switch left butter 720 hardway front 270, switch left double 1600 safety grab, left double 1400 tail grab, right front 620. Follow in the ranking Leo Landrø (NOR) and Fadri Rhyner (SUI).

About the Grom Men category, Andreas Penz (SUI) stomped his run and take the victory with a right butter 360 front swap front 270, switch left 540 safety grab, left double 720 safety grab, right front 620. Follow him Timothe Roch (FRA) and Jakub Koula (CZE).

About the women podium, Muriel Mohr (GER) grab the victory with a perfect run composted by a switch left 180 front 270, switch left 540 safety grab, right 720 safety grab and left back 540.
