The first-ever World Rookie Tour stop in Germany – Ogau Rookie Fest – occurred from February 14 to 16, 2025, bringing together young snowboarders from across Europe for a weekend full of progression, competition, and fun. Snowpark Oberammergau was the perfect venue, offering a welcoming atmosphere, smooth lift access, and an ideal freestyle setup, creating the ultimate playground for the next generation of riders.
day 1: training, POW workshop, and Nitro night session
The weekend of the Ogau Rookie Fest started with an intense training session on Friday, allowing riders to get familiar with the park. The day also featured a Protect Our Winters (POW) workshop, where young participants learned valuable insights about climate change and sustainability in snowboarding.
As night fell, the legendary Nitro BBQ night session lit up the park. With floodlights shining and snow falling, the atmosphere was pure magic. Riders threw down stylish tricks in an electric setting, marking an epic start to the event.
day 2: game of S.N.O.W. and last preparations
Saturday was all about pushing boundaries and creativity. Riders took part in an intense game of S.N.O.W., challenging each other in trick battles. The friendly competition pushed many participants to land new tricks on the spot, setting the stage for an exciting contest day.
day 3: contest day – the future of snowboarding on display
Sunday was all about the official slopestyle competition, where riders delivered impressive runs under perfect weather conditions. The event ran smoothly, showcasing the talent and determination of young snowboarders.
Results and standout performances
Super grom (under 12)
- girls: Valerie Schwab (Bredlsport Oberland e.v.) secured the win in a tight battle, just ahead of Tilda Kuhlmann (Snowgau freestyle team e.v.), who also showed incredible promise for the future.
- boys: Alex Campbell dominated the super grom category, proving his technical skills and consistency.
Grom (under 15)
- girls: Marie Kuhlmann (Snowgau freestyle team e.v.) not only claimed first place in her category but also earned the highest overall female score.
- boys: Slovenia’s Jaka Pancur took the top spot with an outstanding performance, leaving his mark on the World Rookie Tour.
Rookie (under 18)
- girls: the field was small, but Lena Kutschker (Snowgau freestyle team e.v.) secured the win with style.
- boys: Tyler Prosser-Marr from Scotland stole the show, claiming the rookie title with an impressive run that wowed both judges and spectators.
