The second edition of the French Fries Rookie Fest, the French stop of the World Rookie Tour went down 9th and 10th of February 2013 in Avoriaz, France.
72 young snowboarders from all over Europe competed all weekend to get their qualifications for the finals of the World Rookie Tour in Ischgl, Austria – the Rookie World Snowboard Championships organized by the World Snowboard Federation in cooperation with the World Snowboard Tour.
Rookies
The Rookies competed (15, 16 and 17 years old) on the perfectly shaped Arare Snowpark. The victory trophy went to the Norwegian Marius Bakken, followed by the second placed Jonas Bösiger from Switzerland and the Swedish Anthon Bosch on the third place. The best French rider finished as 5th: Matteo Cuny from La Clusaz.
Lou Staub, SUI showed the best trick with a double back flip and won the “guettho blaster“ Pioneer!
The leading Rookie Girls were the two French Lucile Lefevre (1st) and Agathe Le Cornec (2nd) followed by Nathalie Silkstone from England.
Groms
On the Chapel snowpark, the Groms (14 years and below) impressed with their best tricks. The Belgian Steff Vandeweyer won the Groms contest with a 360 nose bong over the H and saved the ” most stylish trick Arnette”. The second place went to his compatriot Flor De Laat. third the French Sacha Moretti from France became third and also won the «guettho blaster» Pioneer with a “Cab under flip” as best trick of the day.
Being only 8 years old and therefore youngest snowboarder of the event, Loic Deschaux qualified for the finals.
The Groms girls winning title went to Chloe Sillieres from France. Thalia Larochaix, FRA and AylaThidling, GBR became second and third.
The first three in each category (Rookie girls and boys, Grom boys and girls) are qualified for the Völkl World Rookie Finals – Ischgl, Austria – 3.7 April 2013 – 3*TTR.

ABOUT WORLD SNOWBOARD FEDERATION
The World Snowboard Federation (WSF) is the international organization exclusively working to develop the sport of snowboarding at all levels.
